Background

As you know, Osgrid has been experiencing persistent problems with the grid's assets which have caused intermittent grid closures aimed to diminish asset errors. Despite their best efforts and countless hours of work, it has become clear that the grid's assets are too corrupted and the management team have decided that all grid assets and inventories will be deleted on March 21, 2025. The grid will remain closed for an estimated week while the asset servers are scrubbed clean.

​Residents have been advised to create OAR files of their regions and IAR files of their inventories in preparation. The resulting panic put so much stress on the asset server, that the grid has had to shut down temporarily. When the grid returns, residents will be able to retry saving their inventories.

What this means for Masala Estates's renters in OSGrid:

OAR Files

Masala Estates's servers AUTOMATICALLY create OAR files of all regions at least twice per week. This means that all our regions have at least two current OAR files available. In most cases we have more. I have disabled the scripts that generate new OAR files for all my OSGrid regions. This means that all rental sims are frozen in time as of right now. No further changes will be saved. This will reduce stress on the grid, and on my tenants. please do not build or make any changes which you would like to save.

IAR Files

IAR files can only be created on request. I will create IAR files for any OSGrid resident that requests it, whether they rent from me or not. Please be advised that the grid's capacity to create backup files is limited and so many people will attempt to run backups over the next few weeks that not all IARs may be successful. I will try my best to accommodate all who ask. There is no charge for this.

Sim Rentals

Please be under no illusions that OSGrid will be fixed in a quick and speedy manner. The grid will be taken offline on March 21and will remain closed until the asset wipe is finished. We will probably begin the rebuilding efforts in April, although nothing is certain.

As of now, I am not selling any new rentals in OSGrid. the Purchase page has been disabled. 

Anyone wishing to cancel their rental, please do so on this website. You can cancel with PayPal directly, but this makes it more difficult for me to trace your original order. If you wish to cancel abut don't know how, please submit a support ticket. Any sim renewals that come into effect from now on will be refunded upon request.

I understand if you wish to cancel so you can rent on another grid. If you want to leave, I will supply you a download link for your OAR file. I can't force you to stay and wait for months for a resolution. Having said this, I would like to thank all my fantastic tenants for their continued support in the past four and a half years.

Private Grids

A number of residents have already approached me seeking to establish their own self contained mini grid where to continue building, partying and living their best virtual life. If you feel this is a good solution for you, please get in touch.
